Discover the tranquillity and sense of space
As a guest at our hotel you will experience tranquillity and spaciousness, both indoors and out. De Schildkamp is situated in Asperen, on the River Linge, which meanders through the beautiful Betuwe nature conservation area, with miles of fruit orchards stretching as far as the eye can see, far from all the hustle and bustle. Our hotel is classified as Superior and you’ll soon see why. Our spacious rooms (64) are at least 25 square metres in size, with modern bathrooms with a shower or bath, smart television, a safe, telephone, desk and lounge area. Your room comes with access to free high-speed fibre optic Wi-Fi. We have rooms to suit all needs: single rooms, double rooms with or without a bath, a family room, disabled-friendly rooms and suites. 24 rooms have air conditioning.
Luxury suites, special rooms
Our luxury suite comprises two rooms with a total surface area of 50 square metres. The luxury suite features a large round whirlpool bath, a minibar, and coffee and tea facilities in the room.
The junior suite is an extra spacious room, 35 square metres in size, with a luxury bathroom with a whirlpool bath. The junior suite also has coffee and tea facilities. Dressing gowns and slippers are included. Besides the suites, we have a large family room and a room for the disabled with a modified bathroom.

Breakfast featuring local produce, fine dining, space to relax and a bowling alley
Our breakfast buffet always includes a range of local produce. There you’ll find delicious fruit from the Betuwe and various kinds of marmalades. Our meat and cheese products, too, come from the neighbourhood and are produced organically, wherever possible.
Enjoy delicious meals in our à la carte restaurant. In addition to meat dishes, our brasserie also offers many vegetarian and vegan dishes. Each and every day our chef gathers ingredients to create his culinary marvels. Many of these ingredients come from the immediate vicinity and are grown organically,
wherever possible, but in any case they are produced responsibly. With these ingredients as the basis, his creativity brings together a range of aromas and flavours to tickle your taste buds. Our hosts and hostesses are standing by to advise you on the best pairing wine.

In our Grand Café, you can relax while enjoying snacks or light meals. That is where you’ll find our bowling alley. The lanes are beautifully lit and the fluorescent bowling balls make for a colourful evening.
Beautiful surroundings, with major cities within easy access
There are wonderful bike rides to be had right from our doorstep. We rent bicycles. Of course, you can also walk, visit the forts in the vicinity, or cross the River Linge to the city of Leerdam, famous for its glass, which is a 10-
minute walk away.

Because De Schildkamp is centrally located in the Netherlands, you can easily reach major cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Utrecht by car for a day of sightseeing. You are only an hour away by car from the Dutch coast.
Take advantage of the Asperen Fitness Club
If you spend a night with us, you can go to the fitness club adjoining our hotel complex at a reduced rate. You can swim, train on the gym equipment, or simply relax in the sauna or steam bath.

De Schildkamp for business
De Schildkamp is exceptional, in fact we’re interordinary, as our facilities for business meetings clearly demonstrate. Our Indoor Outdoor Experience really is unique in Europe. We have a veritable indoor arboretum with trees, bushes, a tent and a camp fire. Perfect for special inspiration sessions, product presentations or team building exercises. You have to see it to believe it. It can also be hired in combination with our normal meeting rooms. We also have plenty of meeting rooms for groups of up to 500 people. All auditoriums are fully equipped and always include a projector or smartboard, whiteboard, flip chart and high-speed Wi-Fi. It is even possible to drive cars into our large ‘Under the Stars’ conference room.
On the ground floor you will find the inspiring Art Gallery, where exhibitions are held and artists help business guests to explore their own creativity. Finally, we have our Escape Room, where insight, logic and team work are put to the test.
